    XTR front 2x/3x converter mode

I posted in the Shimano forum, but think I'll get more views here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have an SLX equiped GT 9r. I took the big ring off, installed a bash ring and am running it as a 2x9 with 22/ 32 chainrings. Everything is good , but I'd like to shorten the shifter throw of the FD.
If I switched to a 2X FD and shifter, would the shifter not have to be pushed as far as the triple?
I notice that XTR has a converter mode. So, is the 2x mode a shorter thow?

I locks out the granny gear position (24). They utilize what would be used for the big and middle ring (32 & 42) on a Dyna system triple.

I don't know about the "throw".
If i am not mistaken Shimano shifters pull more cable on the 2-3 shift. Try adjusting your shifter to use your 2nd & 3rd position to shift your small and middle ring. This might accomplish what you are looking for.
