Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! XTR External Cups on Race Face Cranks

I just got some XTR external cups for my Race Face Atlas cranks and the inner plastic sleeve does not snug up like it did with the Race Face bearings.

Do I need to get a Shimano inner sleeve?

This is on a bike with a 73mm bottom bracket shell

If it isn't snug, then I would say yes. I am using a set of DuraAce external cups on my XTR cranks. I had to run the spacer from the XTR bottom bracket to get my spacing right.

Maybe take it to your LBS and eyeball it to see if it will work. I didn't know you could use different external cups on these cranks (i.e. RF on XTR or vice versa).

got it figured out..... The non-drive side race Face bearing is longer than the XTR ones. Gotta get a Shimano inner sleeve and it should take care of it.

Will the XTR bearings fix the problems being had with the RF cranks?
My wife thinks I am nuts for spending this much on a bike. I tell her I think I am nuts for spending that much on her Diamond ring!

I might give this a shot. My 2nd set of RF bearings are starting to feel stiff.

I found this page on universal cyles. They have a part called the "inner cover with "A" o-ring" I think that is what you need.
