Will a 7-speed cassette fit an XT hub

that's listed for 8 or 9 speed? Or do I need spacers?

Plan to upgrade my dedicated city "beater" bike with a set of Sun Rhyno rims w/ XT M756 hubs. Don't want to buy new cassette and with it new shifters if I don't have to. Currently running stock Shimano 7 speed shifters and cassette that works fine for me.

It will fit, but you will need a 4mm spacer to place behind the cassette.

4.5mm. fyi you can just cobble up a set with bb spacers and some of the shimano ones from 10 spd casettes
