What's up with BMX and MTB bottom brackets?

Hello from Old Cannondale Super V guy - just trying to upgrade the old square tapered axle bottom bracket, without changing the cranks.

Being a weight weenie, I see that there are a ton of titanium bottom brackets out there that are marketed to BMXers, names like Box, Token and Sinz. They appear to be the same as any other 1.37" X 24 thread bottom bracket, 68mm to 73mm housing width. I need a 113mm axle, which seems to be no problem. Could save 7 ounces over my old bb.

Will one of these "BMX" bottom brackets fit a standard 24 thread mountain bike bottom bracket?

Those are mostly meant for Mini and Junior bikes, basically kids. Might be fine for putzing around but just getting a Shimano unit might be a better choice.

There are 2 slightly different spindle taper standards and I'm not sure if most bmx cranks are the same as shimano or not.
    I brake for stinkbugs
