What cable housing do I have - Jagwire L3?

I have some cable housing labeled Jagwire L3. It's black and has a grey fiber criss-crossing on the outside.

It was supposed to be a Ripcord complete derailleur kit but the mail order place screwed up and sent just some housing. They did send me right package and told me to keep the housing but I don't know if it's brake housing or derailleur housing.

Can anybody tell me what I have?

Usually if under the outer plastic casing there is a single wound spiral wire it's brake housing, if it's multiple strands of wire running lengthwise it's a derailleur housing...

I just installed some Jagwire L3 brake cable housing that has the double criss-cross metalic you describe. I don't have any deraileur cables on my SS, so I cannot say whether or not the deraileur cables look similar or not.

Does it say "brake" anywhere on the package?

Try shoving some brake cable through it. If it fits, it's not deraileur housing.

that is jagwire's compressionless housing. it is used for both brakes and derailers, but they have different inner (and outer) diameters. if the inner diameter is larger than shift cable, then the housing is for brakes.
