Yes but X.9 is nine speed and Alivio shifters means you have (or had) a 8 speed drivetrain...are you replacing the drivetrain and rear derailleur too?

    cheers guys

mtnbiker72, i was planning on upgrading everything to x.9 at once, sometime next week, but it's been delayed because the chainrings i was going to get are out of stock.
i'll just change the front shifter for now, i'll change the rear deraileur and the rest of the drivetrain all at the same time when the rings get in stock, just need a front shifter that works for now!

    cheers again guys

The X.9 left shifter is micro-index, so it's compatible with just about anything. Understand that for better or worse your front will no be index, and will require (or allow) trimming.

    The trigger is micro-indexed?

Or are you just referring to the X-9 Twist shifters?

--- No, though I think they're compatible for the front, but I wouldn't bet on it without confirmation.

And yes, I was referring to the twisters.
