    Upgrading to XT (8spd)

I was going to upgrade the XT front and rear derailleurs on sale from Jenson right now. I'm riding a Fisher Bitter, which is an 8-speed setup with an SRAM SG830 32-18t cassette and alivio shifters. I know many derailleurs designed for a 9spd systems work fine with 8-speed cassettes, should I be concerned with anything here? Would an x.7 work better?

    thanks

    Front and rear mechs... fine.

Don't get the X-7 unless you want to get the X-7 shifter too. Sram has a different cable pull for their X series than Shimano.
