    Upgrading both derailleurs

I have a 2008 Specialized Hard Rock Sport and I am looking to replace and upgrade both derailleurs.

    http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...6&menuItemId=0

The front is a Shimano Altus FD-M310-6, top swing, 34.9mm clamp
The rear is a Shimano Acera RD-M340

The crankset and shifters are stock and I have a SRAM PG-850 cassette and a SRAM PC-850 chain.

Would the below options be okay?

They are OK...I would fogo the front deraileur and get the SLX instead. Acutally IMHO I would keep both deraileurs and get SLX or XT Shifters. and upgrade the DR later.

That of course would require a total switch to 9 speed as SLX and XT shifters only come in 9 speed.

The best option is to ride what you have and save your pennies until you can afford to upgrade Shifters, F&R Derailleurs, Chain, and Cassette to 9 speed.
