    Upgrading to a 9 spd

I am being using an 8 spd setup for the past couple years and I'm looking to upgrade after I destroyed one of my shifters.

I will being switching from Shimano Deore shifters to SRAM X-9. I have Shimano XT front and LX rear derailers, So, I will need to get new shifters, cassette and a chain. Am I missing anything?

The X-9 shifters only work with Sram 1:1 rear derailleurs.

Ok, so I would need to get a SRAM X-9 Rear Derailer?

    yep!

you'd basically need this and the 9-speed cassette and chain of your choice. i like the really bling PG-990 but you can get a cheaper one.

An X9 would be a nice touch, but any Sram 1:1 rear derailleur will work.
