Ultegra 6600 shifters compatible with 9spd Tiagra cranks and derailleur?

I have an older Novara touring bike that I have set up just the way I want it, but it has 8 speed shifters and cassette. There are a fair number of times when the ideal gear is between the gear I am in and the next one. I like the idea of stepping up to a 10 speed system to reduce the jumps and it is getting hard to find appropriate 8 speed cassettes.

Someone was selling a new set of Ultegra ST 6600 10 speed shifters for a triple crankset fro the cheap price of $100, so I bought them!

Now I am trying to figure out what I need to make it work (other than the obvious 10 speed cassette).

Both front and rear derailleur are Tiagra 9 speed. I think the Tiagra triple crankset is 9 speed too, but am not certain.

    Please help.

The Shimano Ultegra ST-6600 brifters will work with your proposed setup.

    To clarify:

The LH brifter is compatible with 7, 8, 9 and 10 speed Shimano road front derailleurs.
The RH brifter is compatible with any 2:1 actuation rear derailleurs (eg 7, 8, 9, and 10 speed Shimano road rear derailleurs; and 7, 8 and 9 speed mtb rear derailleurs).

I would advise that you use a 10 speed chain as well.
