The Powerspline B.B's have a smaller diameter spline, and in my opinion, are very cheap in quality. If you buy the Powerspline B.B. you will have to get the appropriate crankset - you can't mix and match systems unfortunately. (ISIS with Powerspline)
There is also ISIS - Truvative, RF etc, and Shimano - octalink, and of course the new 2 piece external bearing system.
In a few years I think the ISIS/ Powersline/Octalink system will be slowly phased out. (Like what we are seeing with the square tapered b.b.)
My suggestion would be to purchase the "new" outboard bearing 2 piece crankset, which pretty much every company is now making, and parts will be around for a few more years. (RF, Shiamno, Truvative makes some really nice cranksets)
I can't give you any specific recommendations because you didn't tell us what type of riding you are doing.
Re: crank length - go see your LBS for a proper fit. Most MTB riders use a 175mm crankarm, however there are also 160, 170mm's for the Hobbits and 180's for the Clyd's
powerdrive and powerspline are not the same, I just found that out. I think the question is, can powerdrive (not power spline) and ISIS be interchanged. A question I have too, but I believe the answer is no.
