    Trek 4300

My wife has been recently complaining about her shifting, " I change gears and for many seconds nothing happens, then a large clanking sound and it engages"! I need this fixed, she says.

Do I take it to the LBS or is it an adjustment that I would be able to do ?

    Depends.

What is the condition of the bike and its components and cables?

Are things bent or possibly broken?

Have you ridden her bike to see exactly what happens?

Okay, the bike is about 2 or 3 seasons old, I clean clean and maintain it and it has never fallen!
