If you are used to the Time's and....

like them, stick with it. My personal preference runs to Shimano clipless pedals. I prefer less float before release and don't care for the lateral float of the Time pedals. The XTRs are an excellent pedal. The bearings are fully serviceable and they have a positive engagement and release. But then so are the XS Carbons. I've ridden both but don't care for the Times for the previously stated reasons. You can't go wrong with either pedal. So if you are used to the time pedals and like them, why switch? Unless you really want the change, stick with something that you won't have to learn to use. Of course technically you won't have to, the pedals work in the same way basically. But you will have learn how to deal with less rotational float and 0 lateral float with the shimano pedal.

Your choice, both a great pedals.
