I have an '08 FSA Gossamer crank and BB on my commuter, when i am going uphill in low gear, when my Right crank almost gets to BDC (6 o'clock)i can feel/hear a THUD , Almost like a worn out hub bearing, Any Ideas?
Think about it. If it's only at a specific degree in the rotation of the crank, it is likely isolated to the BB, crank, chainring, pedal area since the rear wheel moves at a different ratio..
That said, first check that the chainring bolts are greased very well and tight, then the pedal smoothness, then make sure there is plenty of grease on the crank/BB interface and finally take out the BB and put some teflon tape and/or antisieze on the threads.
I doubt that anti-seize on the threads will help, my understanding is that my fix a 'creak' but not a 'thud'. Pedals and ring bolts is a good idea, but I'll bet your bottom bracket is shot. My wife has a pretty nice commuter (Electra), but it came with a cheesy bottom bracket that didn't last 6 months. I would expect an FSA to last a while, but it might be a lemon.
