Thread size check - chainring bolts?

Parks website says they are 8mm x.75 Is this correct? I need to get a tap to clean some threads on my cranks. Shame parks jumbo tool kit doesn't include this size.

    thanks

I would just replace the bolts

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common

No I have to clean up some messed up threads with the tap - i'm not changing the size or anything.

edit: Threads for the inner ring.

Nobody knows? I would think this is a common tool at bike shops.

    Answer

Another lovely reply to my own post,

It is defiantly .75 and the width is like 7.8mm so I guess that means 8mm.

Now I just need to find the tap.

I just cut threads in a truvative crank for the small chainring. It is a 104mm bcd crank but the surface for 64mm bcd was there so it was quite easy. I am quite sure that it is 8x0.75mm but my chainring bolts does not fit. I will try later with some other bolts.

It migtht be the truvative bolt + nut that is not made to the standards of a M8x0.75mm.

Update - The truvative bolts are not made to the standards. All my other chainring bolst fits nicely.

So - M8x0.75m it is. Long live the metric system.
