Stripped a Granny gear thread on my turbine- HELP
So I have a beloved set of old square taper turbine LP cranks,
I was setting it up with some new chainrings and managed to strip one of the bolt threads out on the inner bolt circle.
Anyone ever try to fix something like this? Is there any super epoxy compound I could try... any one ever sucessfully thread tapped a set of cranks like this?
I doubt Race face will warranty it.
This happened to me before. Turns out the spacer was too big for the ring and subsequently the bolt didn't thread in far enough. Is it a race face ring you used? Mine wasn't but luckily the shop sold it to me that way and I got it warrantied. Race Face sent me the proper ring and it was perfect ever since. The spacer size and the type of rings are the key.
Find the correct helicoil, that should fix it.
Did you ever find a solution for this?
I just stripped one out after a granny ring bolt backed out then hit a suspension bolt.
I'd like to continue using the cranks on my commuter bike if possible.
