SS front to 9 spd rear?

I rarely leave my middle cog in the front. my rear cassette is 12-28. I was considering changing to one (32) in the front and a 9 spd 11-34 in the rear for a little more range.
Is that to much to bend the chain? Can this be done without issue?

Search for 1x9 and you will probably find a lot of info. I've set it up like that with a bashguard in place of the big ring and a jumpstop on the inside as a chain guide to keep from dropping the chain on the inside. Do a search on the internet for jumpstop to see what it is. This setup gave me no problems on most cross country type riding, even with some small jumps, ledges and fast rock gardens. For more aggressive riding you probably want something along these lines, if it's compatible.
