    SRAM XO issue

I'm looking at buying a XO from a guy on Craigslist. However he says once the chain is no under tension, say after taking off the rear wheel, the cage comes apart from the derailleur body. Is this normal? Can it be fixed? He thinks it may be missing a bolt.

    Thanks.

Actually I was trading for the part. Can it be fixed?

Maybe, but maybe not. If you've got something that's absolutely of no value to you, then you have nothing to lose but time and shipping costs. Personally I'd pass on the deal, but others here might suggest otherwise. Good luck.

This is not normal. Makes me wonder how it ended up this way to begin with... did he take it apart to clean/service it and couldn't put it back together? Was it in a crash?

    Yeah, I would pass too.

BTW, if you need X.0 shifters, I have a brand new set in original packaging I'm looking to sell.

I'll look it over and see what's up. maybe it's just missing a small bolt.

Thanks for the offer for shifters but no thanks.

Turn out it is missing the little bolt that prevents the pulley cage from over rotating. Simple fix.

No problem, it was a shameless plug anyway...

But, you do have X.0 shifters, right? X.0 rear derailleur will only works with X.0 shifter (2:1 pull ratio).

Sorry if that was a stupid question. Sometimes it hard to know how much someone knows about their components.

I've got XO front and rear. If I'm not mistaken they are 1:1

A shameless ploy is one thing, but an out and out lie is really shameless...

XO grip shifts were part of the trade. They are 1:1 ratio. Shimano uses 2:1. And XO rear derailleurs also work with X9 and X7 shifters as they are 1:1 as well.

So far so good. I like the way the XO grip shift feels and the way it shifts.

    Grip shifters are awesome!
I switched over last season, and will never go back to triggers!

No worries, but pretty big difference saying the X0 shifter only works with an X0 derailleur vs Shimano derailleurs...and in combo with the shameless plug....
