    Sram XO with aluminum cage

How old is this? Used one available in great shape but noticed the cage was aluminum (totally ok with me BTW). Other wise is it the same pretty much as current ones?

    Thanks!

About 2003/2004 era. After that it was full carbon, then outer plate only.

Actually, depending on the cage length, it could be as recent as 2007.

The long cage in 2007 was aluminum.

IIRC In '08 I believe the outer cages were all carbon and the inner cage plate was aluminum.

Yes it is a long cage.

Functionally is it the same for all years?

"Functionally is it the same for all years?"

Yup, there have been little tweaks for the XO as the years have gone by. But they've been pretty much aimed at durability or weight. The 10s have had some pivot and knuckle design changes that lower the lateral profile of the derailleur and tuck em in a bit tighter to the frame. But they still function the same.

The SRAM X0 RD with aluminum cage, faux carbon P-knuckle, "SRD" etched on the B screw boss was produced from 9/2003-4/2007...and I think its the best version SRAM made, at 210 grams. Mine has seen many, many rock hits and is still straight as an arrow...I surely would not be saying that if the cage was frail carbon!
