sram x0 crank and x7 derailleur compatibility with shimano triggers and chain

I want to convert my stumpjumper fsr expert 29 to full xtr, except the crank and the front derailleur.

    The current setup:
    crank: Custom SRAM carbon S-2200 (x0) 36/24
front derailleur: SRAM X7, 10-speed, S3 direct mount for DMD, bottom pull
    cassette: some sram
    rear d: type 2 x0 mid
    x9 triggers

    I want this setup:
    xtr triggers
xtr rear derailleur, casette and chain
x7 front derailleur and the sram crank remains

Is the xtr trigger is compatible with the x7 front derailleur?
Is the xtr chain is compatibly with the sram crank?

    Thank you

Anybody running 10 speed xtr (triggers, rear dreailleur etc.) with sram x0 crank and sram front derailleur?

It should work fine. If you look around the manufacturers models, they mix and match SRAM cranks and front derailleurs with Shimano like that all the time - also the other way around.

Yes - Well at least I can confirm that the Shimano trigger shifters will work with the X7 FD...

My 2013 SJ FSR Elite 29 came with the following:
    - S-2200 (X0) Crank (same as yours)
    - X7 Front Derailleur (same as yours)
    - SLX Trigger Shifters (similar to what you want)
    - Shimano XTR RD-M985 GS Shadow Plus Rear Derailleur (exactly what you want)
    - SRAM PG-1050 Cassette
    - KMC Chain

I wanted SRAM Grip shifts, so I just removed the XTR Rear Der and SLX Trigger shifters and replaced them with X0 grip shifts and X0 Type 2 RD.

Both the X0 Type 2 and XTR Shadow Plus are excellent RD's -- both RD's are long cages, and I did not hear chain slap from either one. Next stop is ebay to recoup some of the cost for the X0 goodies and XTR trail pedals ;-)

After one year usage I found that my xtr parts are NOT compatible with X0 crankset!

    I have the following issues:
    - Always(!) dropping chain from the largest sprocket to smaller ones on backward pedalling
    - Always jumping chain on the smallest sprocket on backward pedalling
    - Now my bike started dropping the chain over the largest sprocket

I never experienced the first two issues with any system in the past 20 years.

Setup: 10speed xtr casette (11-36), xtr 10 speed chain, xtr 10 speed long cage rear derailleur, sram x0 (36/24)

    Anybody experienced ever similar issues?

Everything I've read is that you mix and match cranks, cassettes, etc., but never mix brands of derailleur and shifters because they pull different amounts of cable. I don't think it has anything to do with your crankset.

You are right, but my setup is full 10 speed xtr (including shifters), the only sram part is the x0 crank. That is why I don't understand what can be the problem: chainline not changed, chain direction is correct etc.

Oh sorry, thought I read earlier in the thread that you were using an X7 FD. Still, it seems unlikely the crank is the culprit. Sounds more like an alignment or adjustment thing.

(I still have the x7 fd, but the rd is xtr)

I put back the sram cassette and the chain, and the issues are gone.
Shift quality is not as good like with the xtr cassette and chain, but no dropped/jumping chain on backward pedaling.

I guess the x0 double chain line is slightly different than the xtr double, and that is the problem. I have no xtr crank to try out.
