I bought a Power Link for an 8 speed rear derailleur sized chain (not too sure what brand chain it is; whatever comes with the Gary Fisher Wahoo), but it doesn't fit correctly, it's not sliding into the locking position. I brought the chain and the link to my LBS, and they suggested using pliers to put it on. After many attempts and sore hands later, the thing still does not fit.
Am I doing it wrong, or do I simply have the wrong part?
The 8 speed power links are silver, 9 speed are gold...you shouldn't have to use any tools to attach or remove it (that would kinda defeat the purpose)......if you have a Sram or Shimano chain you shouldn't have any problems....
The Sram 8 speed powerlink will NOT work with a Shimano 8 speed chain as the Sram and Shimano's are different widths. The 9 speed links will work on both 9 speed systems as they are the same width.
I hang my head in shame as I simply went to the shop and got KMC link which fit fine on the Shimano chain.
Thanks for the help.
