Sram Esp 9

Looking to upgrade my grip shifters and was wondering if anyone had tried these? Going on a 1998 Stumpy Hardtail. Would I have to change cassettes and derailleurs?

Depends on what rear derailuer you are running. You will need a SRAM 1:1 rear if you don't allready have one. The front shifter should work with any front derailuer. As for the cassette I don't think it matters.

I have 1998 Stumpy and it has 8-speed cassette. Current ESP 9 is for 9-speed cassettes. Check ebay for new-in-box 8-speed stuff. ESP shifters require ESP rear derailleurs, but work with any front derailleur.

The SRAM Attack shifters work with Shimano rear derailleurs. If your drivetrain is in good condition, this is the cheapest upgrade. You can find a new pair on ebay for $20-30.

Old ESP stuff should be compatible with all SRAM's X-series stuff.
