    Sram Cassette Compatibility

I've got a 34t shimano cassette on now and was looking to upgrade to a 32t. My dad's got a sram powerglide 990 32t that I was gonna put on. The splines match up but it does not slide onto the hub. There seems to be an elevated groove upon which the splines sit in the sram cassette, but that's the only difference I could find. Should this cassette fit on the hub I have? Are the sram/shimano cassettes typically interchangeable?

    Thanks!

They are totally interchangeable for 8/9/10-speed.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common

It definitely should fit. Might take some wiggling to get it to slide on the freehub. I always put a light coat of grease when I install cassettes.

I assume you know there is a wide groove that has to match up with the wide spline on the cassette?

Thanks for the replies. It just took a little more effort to slide it on there. Wiggled it and it went on.
