    Sram 9-Speed and 10-Speed Compatibility ?

This is initially an Sram front shifter question.

I'm trying to determine the amount of cable pull (click to click) between:

    2011 model X.9 front 3x9 shifter
    2011 model X.9 front 3x10 shifter
    and
    2011 X.7 front 3x9 shifter
    2011 X.7 front 3x10 shifter

    2010 X.7 front 3x9 shifter small to middle ring - 11.9mm (.47 inch)
middle to big ring - 8.4mm (.33 inch)
( Best effort measured on an assembled bike)

    Here's the ultimate plan:

    X.9 3x9 or 3x10 front shifter 2011
    XTR 3x9 front derailleur
XTR m960 3x9 crankset (Blackspire rings)

    X.9 10-speed rear shifter 2011
    X.9 10-speed rear derailleur
Sram 12-36 cassette or XT Dynasys 11-36 cassette (w/ dynasys xt chain)

Half the parts I have yet to buy! So....

If anyone has any pieces to this puzzle please throw them out here.
    I'd appreciate it!

    Spacing

An alternative solution may be to consider the chainring spacing on a 3x9-speed vs 3x10-speed.

Just use the "9-sp" front shifter and be done with it.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common

    Went to the LBS today...

They're really cool about letting me fool around w/ stuff and I got some basic numbers....

    Front shifter cable pull:

    2011 X.9 front 3x10 shifter - Small ring to Middle - 12mm, Middle to Big - 8mm
    2011 X.7 front 3x10 shifter - Small to Middle - 11-12mm, Middle to Big - 8mm
    2011 X.5 front 3x9 shifter - Small to Middle - 11-12mm, Middle to Big - 7-8mm
    2010 X.7 front 3x9 shifter - Small to Middle ring - 11.9mm, Middle to Big ring - 8.4mm

These measurements were on the bike and w/ cable connected to front derailleur.

It's looking like I'll be able to get a new 2011 3x10 shifter set and have the two match in color.. (ok.. I'll take the color thing.) or do the "can't go wrong" 9-sp front shifter. graphite color, grey.... no biggie.
