    Specialized hardrock crank replacement/upgrade

I recently purchased this bike and after about 15 miles the left crank arm started backing out and coming loose. It has eaten up some of the square on the crank arm. Where it won't hold anymore I'm looking for a cheap or the cheapest replacement crankset. I ride this bike daily. Any suggestions?

You should be able to get a replacement non-driveside crank arm in either square or diamond from your LBS. A whole lot cheaper than replacing the entire crankset, and just as good.

It should say on the crank arm, by the pedal thread. My guess is that it will be a 175mm. Probably safer to take the crank arm in to your LBS and just get them to give you a replacement. If you decide to order your own, just make sure that it is the same (ie diamond for diamond, or square for square).

The measurement should be on the back of the crank arm. If not, you could always just measure it or take it in to your LBS.

Should cost on the order of $15. If you need your bottom bracket shell faced, it could cost a lot more, though. Bringing in a bike clean always helps.
