A while ago, I put a Race Face Team DH external BB on my singlespeed steel bike, hoping it would last me a while. I've got some squeaks from the BB, and today I took the cranks off to retighten the BB for the second time. The non-drive-side felt pretty loose. Taking another look I realised the spacer on that side had been compressed and deformed against the thin edge of the steel BB shell. Actually, the spacer had been destroyed.

I replaced the spacers with Shimano spacers that I'd kept.

On drive-side, the ISCG tab provides a better backing for the spacers.

The bike being singlespeed and me not being light, I think there must be pretty high loads on the BB.

Any comments on BB spacers, or anything else that is related?
