    SLX Stabilizer Switch?

I'm looking to get a 2013 SLX rear derailleur and there are two different models, the m670 and m675. The difference from what I can tell is that the 675 has a stabilizer switch. I plan to run a 1x chainring on the crank, is the switch something I'm going to want? I believe I also want a medium cage length if I'm running 1x?

Yes, the Shadow Plus model has the stabilizer switch and is the better option if you're running a single ring drivetrain. However, if you're running a single ring drivetrain and have no plans to run a double, you might be better off picking up one of the Shimano Zee models as they have an even shorter cage and are designed specifically for 1x drivetrains.

Thanks for the info. The Zee is good for XC setups or is it more geared towards DH/AM?

Zee is just a short cage SLX rear derailleur. Both derailleurs even share common parts if you look at the parts diagrams on Shimano's site. There are two versions of the Zee derailleur so make sure to get the one that matches your setup best. A DH version for 11-28 cassettes and a FR version for 11-36 cassettes that is most widely used on XC and trail bikes.
