should i spend the extra $100 and get the xt deore 2x10 crank over the sram x7 crank

    Which one:

    $159
    SRAM S1400 X.7 Crank GXP 2.2 10 Speed 2011 at Price Point SRAC41

    $269
Shimano M785 XT Crankset at Price Point

Plan on running X9 rear/front and x9 shifters. While it would be nice to save a $100 bucks, I got the cash and am willing to spend the $$$ if its worth it. Opinions please.

I was going to say "it's not worth it" and post a link to a $130 SLX crank. But while it would be (IMO, and I admit it, I'm a bit of a Shimano fanboy) better than the X7 and cheaper than the XT, it wouldn't be a 26/38.

Thanks guys, I just wanted some affirm to go with shimano, I'm going to get the xt. Not a big deal on the $100 plus its like 80 grams lighter. I just saw that Cdale is using that sram crank on there flash 1 so I wanted some opinions on it compared to the Shimano. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.

You can get that XT 785 cheaper elsewhere, unless you're set on Pricepoint. Try Blueskycycling for one.

Nashbar has the XT 785 for 227.99. That should make your decision a little easier. I would post a link but I'm not allowed yet. I would go with the XT. I've got a build similair to yours and decided on the XT over the X9 mainly because they are available in 180mm.
Go that way, really fast; if something gets in your way . . . turn.
