The bike’s OEM drive-train components are: RD-M340 Shimano Acera rear derailleur, FD-CO51BM front derailleur, KMC Z7 chain, SRAM PG-830 cassette, SL-MC40 “flat bar” shifters, FSA BB-7420 68 x 122.5 bottom bracket and an FC-M361-08 crank set with 48-38 and 28 teeth.
Question should I replace this OEM 8 speed setup with a 9 speed drive train, which would run well over $200.00 or simply replace the 8 speed flat bar shifters with SL-M410 Alivio that won’t bind on my riser handle bars and a new chain? The second option would cost around $75.00. $75.00 dollars is a lot more palatable then $200.00 only if these OEM components last for a few more years. For example the Acera RD body is partly made out of plastic.
