    was the Shimano XTR (RD-M960-SGS)....

    the only rapid rise "XTR" derailleur Shimano ever made?

    I know about the "XT" but am curious about the "XTR".

    No, I have the XTR M970 and it's RR.

    You'd be hard pressed to find many new old stock XTR 970 RR (low normal) RD's now, as they weren't that popular. The XTR Rapid Rise date back as far as the XTR 953 series.

    There's some XT low normal RD's around
