I have a XT 760SGS rear derailleur and I'm wondering what the advantages would be to running a GS. I could run a GS with my current gear setup (22/32 up front and a 9-spd 11/34 in the rear) as I fall into the total capacity limit of the GS. The SGS hanger is really long and seems really vulnerable to damage, but aside from the GS being a little bit shorter, is it worth the cost of changing this out? Are there other advantages to using a shorter derailleur if it's possible to do so?

Also, if I wanted to change it up, is it as simple as just buying the GS plate asssembly (is it possible to get derailleur parts?), or do I need to just go and buy a whole new GS derailleur?
