    Shimano Shifter

I have managed to lose the clear plastic cover from my left Shimano shifter. It is the clear plastic cover that protects the needle that indicates which gear I am in. It is a serial number SL-M310 shifter, though when I look on the internet, I see two different names for shifters with that designation. I really hate to buy a shifter just to cannibalize the clear plastic cover, but even calling Shimano did not help. Does anyone have any ideas of where to get a replacement cover?

Pretty sure you have to order the gear indicator. Or just remove it altogether. The shifters used to come with a separate cover for those that chose not to run indicators. Or you can cover the opening with tape. Not sure which model you have. 310 sounds like a lower level model so perhaps there is no other option but replace it all. Or you could just ignore it.

I would just upgrade/replace this shifter. My wife broke her trigger shifter cover off. Still shifts fine, and I've called everyone I can think of, can't buy just the cover, And fyi my 3x10 setup has no needle or gauge to tell you what gear your in. Anything Ive seen over 3x8 doesn't. I would suggest spending 40 bucks on a decent low end set of triggers.
