Shimano Saint RD-M810 set up difficulty!

So I was trying to install the M810 tonight and was having some difficulty. I think that the main problem lies in the fact that my derailleur hanger (not replaceable) is too thin for it. When I tightened the fixing bolt all the way down, it stuck out the back and the chain hit it when it was in the small cog. My old XTR has a c-clip as a spacer on the fixing bolt that I was going to try to move over onto the Saint but it didn't fit. Should I just get a washer or will that affect shifting?

As long as you have enough range of motion via the limit screws, there shouldn't be a problem. Pick up a thin nut to take up some of the thread on the inside of the frame, too, as it sounds like you have quite a bit.

The thin nut idea is a good one! Unfortunately, I was unable to find one that would fit at the two hardware stores that I went to so I ended up going with the washers. Hopefully I'll be able to get it working tonight!
