    shimano rear derailleur differnece?

I'm looking to buy a couple of used rear der. for back ups. (I go through these things like water). What is the difference between an XT RD-M750 and a RD 761 SGS? Any or just preferences? I have both a 9 speed FS and an 8 speed HT, so ideally I'd like to have these back ups for either bike. BTW, I do not have rapid rise, just standard shifters on both bikes. Thanks for the input in advance!

the M761 is a wide body design. its much stiffer and stays "solid" for a lot longer.

The new M770 and M771 will be even better for you though. You can also choose the new M772 shadow RD. It is high normal only so it will will work with your shifters.

Shifters are shifters. The derailleur determines rapid rise or normal....all of the shifters are the same.
