    Shimano Deore XT shifter question

My left XT shifter mounting bracket broke right in the middle . With it being broken, I can still mount it by just tightening the hex screw slightly more than normal giving it enough tension to stay put on the handlebars. It doesn't give me any issues but it's one of those things that sits in the back of your mind and bothers you knowing that you have something broken on your bike ... I've looked around and so far it looks like it can't really be fixed. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to fix it?

If it works, go with it. As long as you don't have an expensive handlebar (read: carbon fiber), it should hold for a while. The excess tension on one side of the handlebar could cause it to oval if it's really overtightened. When they go on sale, find yourself a new xt shifter set and keep the backside of your mind free!
