    Shimano Deore LX rear derailler

It's a 9-speed derailler right, I have a 8 speed casette. Will it work? Is the derailler just a 9-speed or is it 8 and 9 compatiable?

I'm running an LX mega 9 rear derailleur on an 8 speed cassette, and it's fine. Just be sure you're running 8 speed shifters.
