I bought a mountain bike with Shimano altus c 10 thumb shifters. The shifter to the rear derailer doesn't work.. When I try to take the shifter apart by taking out the two screws the cable appears to be part of the housing and doesn't allow me to take the housing apart. Sure it is simple to take apart but I am not seeing it. I attached a photo. Any help much appreciated.
That photo makes my eyes hurt. I'm not familiar with those shifters but the housing of the shifter should give access to cable removal, but can't tell you how at least not without a clearer picture (is that from the bottom?). Is it really a thumb shifter (top of bar mount) or is it an old thumb trigger shifter (slung under the bar)? Shimano doesn't post the instructions/parts diagram any more so without a better picture or idea of what you mean....
