Shimano 9sp ring on Sram XO 10sp spider

I want to replace the 38T ring on my Sram XO 2 x 10 crank/spider with a 36T. I have a brand new 36T Shimano 9 speed kicking around (FC-M665 dual ring specific) and was wondering if that would work without issue? Both have the 104 BCD. This would give me a 24/36 combination.

I'm thinking yes as I know you can use some 9 speed stuff in the front with 10 speed out back but I have no personal experience trying it out.

The actual tabs on the rings, below the mounting holes, are different between the brands, and sometimes within the brand. You would have to do some filing (or suffer a fit held on just by the chainring bolts, which needs fussing to center the chainring). Pull off your cranks and see which the case may be.

Otherwise, mechanically speaking, it should work.
