shimano 8 spd barcon w/ 105 FR & MTB Crankset

Im building up a cx bike. I want to use a truvativ MTB triple with an existing 105 bottom pull FD controlled by a shimano 8 spd barcon..will this work..well?

Suggestive alternatives are welcome..the CHEAPER the better...

    Thanks in advance..

Which 105 front derraileur do you have? There is a triple and a double 105 FD.

    FD-5500 - double
    FD-5503 - triple

The fd5500 may have problems going far enough out to use your triple.

You sound like you are going to hold me responsible for my opinions

If you've got to buy a new derr., I would get a mountain derraileur. The shimano mountain and road (and SRAM for that matter) shifters pull the exact same amount of cable per shift on the front derr.

I would personally try fiddling with what you got to see if you can make it work before spending unnecessary cash. Mess around with the limit screws and see if you get it to go out far enough.
