    shifting problem

I am having problems shifting in one direction with my rear derailer.

Shifting from to a lower ratio, ie from a large to smaller sprocket is done without a problem.

However shifting to higher ratio, ie from small to larger sprocket, is problematic. Shifting to the 3 smallest sprockets is without a problem. Trying to shift to the middle three sprockets, often result in no shift, and shifting to the largest three sprockets is very eratic, shifting two gears, no shift or a long delay in shifting. (and it does not matter what chain ring you are on).

It all started after a minor mishap involving clearing a log, getting a branch about 2/3" diameter jammed in the rear derailer and as a result the b-tensioner getting damaged.

The b-tensioner was replaced, everything else looks straight and tidy (had two LBS mechanics look at it), even replaced the cable but still no joy.

After reading as many posts here as possible, I am assuming that the rear derailer is bent and needs replacing.

Is there any othe possible explanation or solution?

Looks like an XT rapid rise to replace the bent XT (another advantage of reading lots of posts) as the cost effective solution for me.

I would stick with a regular rear derailluer.
