shifter housing with inner and outer sheaths

A few years ago, a manufacturer (Shimano?) was making an "indestructible" shifter housing consisting of an outer, more or less conventional housing and an inner sheath of some very smooth and delicate material. The idea was to minimize cable attrition while preserving housing ruggedness.

    My questions are:

    • does anybody remember what I am talking about? I swear that I am not making this up!

    • I seem to be unable to find any such product online. Does that mean that it failed in the market? If so, what is currently the best MTB shifter housing?

Jagwire L3? Jagwire white cable housing: Real deal or cheap stuff?

Other makes also have liners. Best housing may be like asking which chain lube. Fwiw, I buy what's on sale but not the cheap stuff.
