    Shifter cable question

Forgive my ignorance. Still new to all this.

I have a bike with Sram and wish to change out the cable to add some color.

I am looking at this on the Jagwire site :

    Mountain Pro Shift | Jagwire

I also see that Jenson USA carries this

Jagwire Racer Complete Cable Kit > Components > Cables and Housing > Shifter Cable and Housing | Jenson USA Online Bike Shop

Clearly states will not work on mountain bikes.

Appears to be same 4 mm diameter. Just curious what the difference is.

I sent an email to Jagwire but have not heard back.

Pretty sure the only difference is length, the brake housing for the road set won't reach mtb discs.
