    Rohloff Chainset

I'm about to take the plunge and place an order for a Rohloff custom steel hardtail.(jeffson.co.nz)
Does anyone have experience using a Rohloff with Middleburn RS8 cranks? I understand the ideal chainline is 54mm, what bottom bracket would I need to use to achieve this?

Really looking forward to getting a Rohloff as most nearby trails are very muddy for 6 months of the year.

So far these are the bike specs, any feedback welcome!

Check your chainline ( from middle of down tube to your plate )
If your not at 54mm , adjust the lenght of the BB acordingly.

If you have a 118mm BB and your chainline is 62 , use a 110mm BB , etc....
You can also use spacers between your crankarm and the plate to obtain a perfect chainline.

    BB length

For my ENO cranks, to hit the 54mm chainline, I needed a 125 symmetric BB. Length was recommended by Phil Wood employee and is spot on.

If your a lightweight rider , you can use a 9 speed chain
If you are a "big & padal masher" I would suggest SS or 8 speed chain.

    I use a 8 speed chain.

Slightly off topic, but as you're getting a custom build, have a think about Rohloff cable routing. With the EBB you have a range of options, including moving the rear brake caliper. See the following for details:

    Optimum cable routing for Rohloff?
