New question here. Replacing my rear derailluer

I'm going to be replacing my rear derailluer pretty soon, It's a shimano altus, from the research I have done I think that it is a 7-speed, I want to upgrade to a deore derailluer but it is marked as a 8/9 speed derailleur. My question is this if I am to swap these out, what else do I need to replace? cassette/ shifters/ chain?

The new derailleur will work fine with your existing stuff.

You just have to set your high and low limit screws to match the width of a 7 speed cassette.
