Replacement (upgrade) chainrings for Deore M590 crankset

I'll probably be getting a brand new Deore M590 crankset this weekend and was wondering whether chainrings of other brands would fit its spider. Saw a lot of nice ones at Chain Reaction's website.

Shimano's chainrings are pretty good. Their one of the best, if not THE best when it comes to shifting IMHO. I'd leave them alone. All you are really doing is searching for a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

What I meant more was for when it wore out, whether I'd be able to use chainrings of other brands which might be better than the stock Deore's. The XTR sure seems to be drastically different but I've read of people using the SLX's chainrings with Deore crankarms.

Yes, you can use SLX or XT chain rings with your Deore crank.

Are you certain of that, they use a carbon/steel ring that has a different tab shape than the standard Shimano rings. Same bolt pattern but I'm not sure if they will actually fit the spider of the Deore cranks

BTW-I've had very good luck with Race Face rings over the years, the Turbine S rings would be a nice upgrade on those Deore cranks

I totally forgot about this possibility. I know XT rings fit the SLX cranks no problem.
