replacement needed? gnarly chain ring [s] ?!

Could someone please tell me if this indeed a horrorshow of a chainring and needs replacing? and if so with a like-for-like, or any recommendations? anyone know of any good deals online?

The reason I ask is that the chain runs around it fine with no slipping etc, but taking a closer look it looks pretty savage- would it be wise to replace? or is this meant to look like this?

    Is is a Raceface Evolve/ 9spd / 44t-32t-22t configuration

The teeth don't look worn too much. They start to get a shark-fin profile as they wear out. It looks like it could some serious cleaning with some degreaser. Otherwise, the scratches look like most chainrings I have had. They get scratched and gouged quickly. If it's running fine, I wouldn't be concerned. Just keep it clean and you'll get more life out of all of your drivetrain parts.

I was going to say the same thing; I've seen much worse. A good cleaning would be your best bet. And... Google: measuring chain wear. You'll find some info on "when" it's time to change your chain. The chain is going to wear out the quickest, then, when it's *too long* it will start to wear out everything else. Best to know when it's time replace it... sooner than later.
