Removing bashguard from slx double, what size chainring bolts?

So as the title says, I don't need a big ring and I don't really need a bashguard for the trails I typically ride. Does anyone know what size chainring bolts I will need for when I remove the bash? 6mm or 8mm? I was actually able to use the bolts and spacers from the crank to make it work but I dont want to leave it like that since it sticks out.

Will this work? the "outer black 6mm bolts"

You can buy shorter bolts, or you can buy some spacers for the bolts you have. Long bolts with spacers, I have read, might provide a bit more strength than the shorter bolts used for single chainrings. Either way, it will be one or the other.

Let's see. Buy shorter outer bolt set for a single chainring, or use what you have and buy spacers to take up the slack of not having an outer chainring or bashguard attached. Something I missed here? I used the latter on my 2x8 setup and it works.
