    Race Face Deus creak problem

I just bought a new cranks and installed them. I took it out for a ride and under load they creak. Every revolution of the cranks under load it creaks. So I pulled them out regreased them and tighten them more. I have heard that these cranks need to be very tight. They still creak. I am not sure what else todo. I am thinking possible defective bearings. I want to bring them to my LBS. Then return them to Race Face if the bearings are faulty. Anyone ever had these problems and can shed some light? I do believe that I have the spacers in correctly. Although I am not sure how long the plastic spacers will last.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
I had that problem on 2 different sets of RF Deus cranks. Both times, it was not the bearings, but the actual cranks themselves. The bonding of the crank arm to the spindle was defective so they creaked under load. Both times they were warrantied. The 3rd set didn't have any issues. Also had some issues with the plastic spacers, one set sort of just disintegrated after about 3 months. Those were replaced under warranty as well.

I had similar issues with the spacers going away and RF blamed it on machine tolerances.

    Thanks,
I had the same problem. I sold them on Ebay, put on some good ole Shimano's and the problem is solved. That was my first and last Race Face purchase. Don't be fooled by a pretty face. End of story.

The reason I jumped the gun and bailed on them is because I did a search and found that many others had the same issue. This is bullcrap in my opinion. RF should pull their garbage off the market until they get it to work right.

    Replacement BB on the way..

I just called PricePoint and they are sending me another BB. Hope this fixes the problem.
If not I am sending the whole thing back and getting a XT.

Some folks have solved this by tightening or replacing the chainring bolts I believe.
I read that on the internet.

    I checked the chainring bolts

They are tight. I don't think that's the cause. My thought is BB or the non drive side crank. I picked up a XT just in case. I'll keep what works are return the other.

REALLY check the bolts, my bud had a creak and there were hairline cracks in the bolts, easy to miss.

I forgot to mention that I broke 2 of the chainring bolts too. That wasn't the only problem though. I was very disappointed in the RF Dues crank and BB.
