Putting new derailer on Nishiki, need help!

I am putting a new rear derailer on my 2010 Nishiki Colorado. The bike originally came with a sram X4 (7 speed rear). I found a great deal on a 7 speed Shimano. I have 2 questions... 1-does the Nishiki frame come with a derailer hanger, or no hanger? 2- Will the Shimano work with a Sram x4 shifter?

1) yes,

2) no

You'll need to either change the rear shifter pod, or get another SRAM derailleur, as the two systems use different cable-pull ratios.

I should add, that all 7/8/9 speed derailleurs will also work with a 7 speed shift pod (within the respective brand).
