New question here. problems with Time ATAC pedal staying on spindle

I was putting on some new shifters today, and noticed by left Time ATAC XS pedal was moving laterally on the spindle. I grabbed it with my hand and was able to slide it in and out on the spindle, so I removed the dust cap to check the nut. The spindle nut was tight, so I took it off anyways to inspect it. The bearing was fine and the inner bushing surface looked cleaned. So basically what I learned was the the pedal was in no way going to fall off of the spindle, but that it would slide all the way to the inside of the spindle. This means that it would get right up next to the crank arm, so its missing some kind of inner stop. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this or have any suggestions? I have to go to collegiate mountain bike nationals in a week and need to get this fixed ASAP.

Nevermind, it appears that the inner lateral motion is controled by the plastic end cap, and it just happened to be a few turns too loose.
